Kids + Toddler Birthday Venues In Los Angeles (Santa Monica)
February 6th, 2007
Our twins celebrate December birthdays so every year we consider a party in our yard or park or house. Then due to weather and our own sanity, decide we need an outside venue. Oh, and we’ve attended a couple partys here and there. So we decided to offer a list of some of our favorite birthday locations for kids and toddlers. I’m sure we’ve missed a few so please, send us your favorites.
This list has a Los Angeles + Westside focus. But if you have some great suggestions, we’re compiling other lists, so please don’t hold back!

Bowling parties at the Santa Monica bowling alley: they put up something to keep the balls out of the gutter. They have a party room. They have nice high school kids to help run your party. Parents can get cocktails from the bar. Definitely a good time will be had by all.

We attended a B-Day at SM Bowl on Pico. It was great! They rent out the rooms upstairs which aren’t the most beautiful in the world, — they look like rooms above a Bowling Ally. They provide all the food (and prohibit you from bringing anything but the cake). I’d recomend that, If you plan a party there, bring some extra activites! The kids went wild running around the party room with nothing to do.

This is more for kids 6 yrs +, but Ultrazone laser tag birthday parties in Sherman Oaks are great. We’ve been holding our kids’ birthday parties there every year for some time now, and they always do a great job. They take care of everything, and the staff is very good with the kids. Plus, it’s laser tag, so you know the kids will have fun. (I’ve been known to play a game or two myself!)

iFly Hollywood is just about to open at Universal CityWalk. This is a vertical wind tunnel that allows you to fly! My sisters daughter had a birthday party at the one in Colorado. She turned 6. I couldn’t believe how much fun they all had! It was so much fun to see them fly and to watch them watch each other fly. My niece had a permanent grin from ear to ear for about a month!! www.iflyhollywood.com

Rent a train car for your party and let the kids explore the other retired train cars in the train museum at Griffith Park. There is also a miniature train ride for everyone to ride. Great party place.

La Petite Party in Thousand Oaks is a wonderful kids’ party destination that is worth the drive out of the Westside. If you really want to spoil your child and their friends, have the business owner arrange a limo to pick you up at your door and extend the party to include the limo ride to and from. Check out their website:

One of the best places to have a party for small children or just for a day out with the kids is Adventure City located down the street from Knotts Berry Farm. This small amusement park is designed for small children. My son was two when we went and he got on every ride. They have a train ride, petting zoo, roller coasters and puppet show. It is VERY AFFORDABLE with free parking. Great for a party and the birthday kid is the captain of the train. If you havent been here, please try it, your kids will thank you, they will be happy and very sleepy on the way home.

I suggest renting Luke Campbell to do karaoke for your kid’s parties. I used him for my child’s party and he was beyond what I could have imagined. He got the kid’s involved right away, even though they were all shy. He sang with them to get it going. It cost me 300 for 3 hours, but it was way worth it. His company is called Get On Up Karaoke. Just search it in Google and you’ll find the link.

Moodoo Puppets offers a unique, fun and extraordinary puppet show for kids parties and events. This 30-minute show is appropriate for all ages. The performers are fantastic, very funny! Even the adults had fun for the entire show! Show price starts at $350 for 1-2 performers. In addition, they offer puppet-making packages where kids get to make their own puppets. They bring all the supplies and 2 people work with the kids to make amazing and creative puppets. For the show plus package combo, they entertain all the kids at the party for about 2 hours. Highly recommended! Website: http://www.moodoopuppets.com
